Missy Crisis, #47K9: "Action Dog" 1994-2008
From virtually the beginnings of OPG we shared it all with one very special little Boston Terrier. I think it's fair to say that she was "one of us" in every way. She shared all of the adventures and general craziness of everything going on and was an important part of everything that we did. With a heavy heart I must report that Missy left us from my arms on August 28th, 2008. She had aged gracefully over fourteen and a half years, no doubt helped greatly by all of the love and attention all of you have poured over her whenever we were together. As our mascot, she always enjoyed being the center of attention and had a way of helping us keep everything in perspective. Before they were called "Blogs", misterpants.com once wrote this about OPG.. "i really like that they have a sense of humor about themselves--a saving grace for any quasi-military Goth HAM radio organization. see, for example, Missy Crisis - Unit Number 47K9 "Action Dog". Missy rocks. All Action Dogs rock. I love Action Dogs." Missy always rocked, and licked, and loved to be scratched. She seemed to be able to understand whole sentences and her face could always tell you what you needed to know. We were very privilieged to have such a special and amazing dog live with us for so long. She was a dedicated companion and a tough little dog, only showing signs of slowing down around her fourteenth birthday. We were able to solve most of her problems and keep her healthy until close to the end. She was her usual tough self holding on as long as she could until her little body just couldn't do it any more. Here at home we miss her terribly and keep tripping over the huge hole in our hearts, but Missy leaves all of us with many happy memories reaching deep into our lives and her presence will always be felt in some way. OPG wouldn't have been the same without her and the world feels different today. If it's true what they say about dogs not going to heaven, then I'd rather go wherever they do. God bless our little dog. |
